Christmas in Thomas Kinkade winter wonderland!
We had the chance to spend a week at the Carpathian Log Home over the holidays and here we are, almost a month later, still thinking fondly of our time spent there. Our stay got off to a bit of an "adventurous" start, which we weren't exactly planning on but we really can't hold anyone but mother nature resposible for it. A severe winter storm had just hit the area prior to our arrival and it had been snowing for several days in a row. Even though that made for an absolute fairytale white Christmas, it also meant that our car wasn't going to be able to make it safely up the hill through several feet of fresh powder snow so we ended up parking about 100 yards away, at the bottom of the hill. Not a deal breaker and, seeing what was waiting for us at the top of the hill, it was definitely worth the minor inconvenience! The owners kindly offered to help with our luggage, which was appreciated. The villa's setting is breathtaking and it was oh, so quiet! All you could hear were the tree branches creaking, heavy with snow.
Inside, there was a fire already roaring in the fireplace and the house felt toasty warm. Can't beat that on a 10° below Fahrenheit day!
Another nice surprise was the welcome basket provided, which was chock-full of local goodies (traditional Romanian sweet bread "cozonac", sausages, cheese wrapped in pine bark, wine, fresh fruit). The owners had even brought in a freshly cut Christmas tree for us to decorate! They really have thought of everything and it showed in the little details throughout the whole house. Always appreciated and sometimes hard to find.
We stayed in the master bedroom and it's a lovely room, comfortable & tastefully decorated, with great views (as are all of the other bedrooms, from what we could see). The bed was REALLY comfy, we had some of the best nights of sleep while there and I'm very particular about my bed! Also, everything seemed to be in pristine condition and spotless clean, which is also a major point in my book.
We didn't do much cooking at home but, for those who would be so inclined, the kitchen was equipped with pretty much everything one would need in order to have a feast. There are also plenty of good restaurants to choose from in the area, some even within walking distance. We loved wrapping up the nights curled up in front of the fireplace with a glass of wine. And the sauna & jacuzzi were a real treat after a long, cold day on the ski slopes.
The owners themselves were an absolute pleasure to deal with and they went our of their way to make sure we had everything we needed. Our only regret is that we couldn't stay longer! Now we can dream about the next time we will, hopefully, be able to return to the CLH.

Quiet Serenity with wonderful nearby attractions
We were a large group that stayed at this house. It is extremely comfortable and well appointed. The location is excellent to enjoy the local attractions of Transylvania. We visited the nearby Castle Bran and took advantage of the local skiing. The house is a modern floor plan with a wide open feel and wonderful views from all the large windows. Each room was nicely fitted. The kitchen served us well and we self catered most meals.
It was especially nice to take advantage of the sauna for a truly relaxing experience. At night we all enjoyed the warmth of the fireplace.
Our only difficulty was that the road to the property was not well plowed for about 150 meters and would suggest you have a 4 wheel drive in winter.

We enjoyed our stay in this place. The place is wonderful - a nice fire place makes the atmosphere very warm and cozy. Great value for money, clean, quiet, big living room, new furniture. The owners are very helpful and friendly. I recommend this place.

Beautiful large cabin just min. from Dracula's Castle. A+++
The place easily housed our extended family of 10, with room to spare. Everything is up to western standards, which is definitely a plus here in Romania. Worth every penny to stay in that place. We will be back again. Additionally, the couple that run the home are great and easy to work with. A+ all around.

The best home in Romania.
Very beautiful house, big, planned very well. You will find there every thing you need. Ema and her husband were very nice and helpful. I Strongly recommend to visit the house and hope to visit by myself soon.

Brilliant
My family and a couple of friends spent an amazing week in this cabin. The location is perfect and we could not enjoy enough the peace and quiet.
The cabin has got a huge terrace all around it and that provided the perfect place to find shade outside all throughout the day.
It has also got a fully equipped fully functioning kitchen and this means a huge amount to parents who know taking your kids out for dinner is a recipe for disaster!
The neighbors locals were also fantastic and showed us some great spots to pick blackberries!! We also enjoyed apples from their garden, they are ever so hospitable! Great fun for our kids!
Its perfect location, meant that we could do fantastic day trips. We do suggest you get very detailed description for your destination on your day trips as Romanian road signs are terrible (more like non existent) and we wasted precious time going back and forth a few times when we could not find the right turn!
Great week overall in a great cabin and great company!

Dream challet in perfect location...beware of vampires
Spent a wonderfull week in this superb villa and cant wait to go back next year .We could not fault the high standard of accommodation on offer , furnishings are very tasteful, the kitchen well equipped with all the modern appliances ,sauna ,jacuzzi , just name it and is there.It was absolutely perfect for the whole family, and the view from the terrace is outstanding. The quality of every service, and the courtesy of the owners was greatly appreciated. It makes a big a difference to be in a place that is maintained and managed by the owners with such high standards.Location is excellent - just 2-3 minutes drive to the local deli-supermarket ,about 5 minutes drive to Dracula`s Castle(Bran Castle) , restaurants and other shops, 10 min drive to Rasnov Citadel for an excellent medieval experience etc. I can really recommend a stay here....you will not be disappointed! L&C London ,U.K.

Perhaps the best vacation rental I have ever stayed in
This was perhaps the best self catering vacation home I have ever stayed at world wide.
It is new, exceptionally large, comfortable, contains all the modern utensils one may need for an extended stay. It is ideal for a family with children, or a few couples traveling together. The living space is very large, the rooms are large and pleasant and each contains a private bathroom. There is lots to do in the Bran-Brasov area - if we ever return we will certainly try to book this place again.
Be prepared to negotiate a steep and deteriorating dirt access road. You do not need 4 wheel drive, but a high clearance vehicle is recommended.

Beautiful, welcoming home
Our family of six had a lovely stay at the Carpathian Log Home in October of 2013. The house is gorgeous and so spacious. There was plenty of room for my husband and I and our four children. The older children also enjoyed playing outside. The pictures of the house are accurate and the house is very clean and neat. Ema provided us with ideas of where to travel in the area and gave good restaurant recommendations. We really enjoyed going to the lodge for dinner. The owners even helped us get off the mountain after our car got stuck! We always dreamed of going to Transylvania, and this house was perfect for our family. It was a wonderful, memorable trip.

Perfect for a Weekend break.
The house design is perfect, it has one of the best living room I've ever seen so far...big windows that offers a great view and an open feel.
Ema was great, really friendly and keen to offer all details that we needed.
I was amazed by the architecture, one of the best houses I've seen...
The living room had a great fireplace and it's perfect if you want to relax.
The view is great and the area is lovely. Bran castle is only a few minutes away and the local supermarket is something like 12-13 min away.
The house has a small sauna and we used it a lot, it's great to be able to use it and after to go outside and calm down for 2,3 minutes.
If you want to cook you have everything that you need, if not there are a few lovely restaurants in Bran.
I will definitely go back.
