My husband and I just got back from spending 2 nights and 3 days at this incredible villa in the Amazon. To start - the accommodation was well above our expectation - we couldn’t believe something so luxurious was sitting in the middle of the Amazon, and such amazing people working from the private chef to our private waiter as well as the boat captains and drivers - such amazing people. However what made this the most memorable and incredible experience was our guide Boris. We saw everything from 5 species of monkeys jumping all around us, to different McCaw and Parrot species - even watching them eat out it a Brazil nut tree while atop the canopy tower - as well as Cayman’s and capybaras and spiders and so many more birds and other amazing creatures. This was 100% down to the fact that we had such an experienced guide, who even grew up living in the Amazon ! The Amazon is not a place you want to be without an experienced guide; Boris walked ahead of us checking for spiders and snakes - gently picking up and moving large webs out of the way before we walked into it , pointing out spiders so we could take a look from a distance and not get caught in the web (I’m terrified of spiders so this was much appreciated !) , he could hear a sound and know exactly what type of bird or monkey it was and then find it for us; not only did he find it for us he then would set up his telescope so we could see it and he would also take pictures and videos using our phone camera through the binoculars and telescope capturing up close what we were seeing so we have memories to last a lifetime !! It looks like we have professional photos. When we were at the McCaw clay lick everyone else saw the videos and pictures he was capturing for us and commenting how amAzing they were - even capturing them flying above in slow motion ! He went above and beyond And made sure we fit everything we wanted to in the 2 and a half days we were there. I learned so much on this trip - our expectations were blown away. Most people we talked to who went to the amazon just saw “a lot of insects”, but not us ! I’ve seen the most beautiful birds in the world and the most interesting monkeys and so much more. This place was definitely a big splurge for my husband and I but it was worth every penny !! I hope you’re lucky enough to have Boris as your guide, and also enjoy the incredible Amazonian food cooked up and served fresh to you by such amazing people. A huge thank you to everyone who worked so so hard ! Don’t think twice - you may not be back to the Amazon again so make the best of your time there - book the Amazon villa!

The name says it all!
This is an amazing way to experience the Amazon basin.
Instead of being distracted by other people, by staying at Amazon Villa, a part of Rainforest Expeditions, you have total privacy --just you and your partner and your guide when you want to go on hikes or take a trip up or down the river. You have unlimited private access to the Villa's river boat, your own very talented chef who comes to the Villa, and all the sounds of nature one could want without any ambient noise! Our guide was amazing and never intrusive. This was a fantastic opportunity and we are so glad we decided on this approach to seeing a piece of the Amazon basin.

Mesmerized by Rainforest Villa
Mesmerized by Rainforest Villa
When my wife Jeanine and I learned that Rainforest Expeditions was inaugurating a private Luxury Villa nested in the middle of the rain forest, fully staffed and featuring an array of private excursions, we jumped at the chance to be one of their first guests. Our stay by far exceeded all our expectations. Rainforest Expeditions once again delivered. The amenities at the villa where wonderful, our well trained, and friendly staff prepared succulent meals made with fresh ingredients. They met our every need. To be able to experience the jungle on our “own terms”, with an expert private guide, on our own boat and picking our own time of departure, opened the door to extraordinary experiences and encounters. For us Tambopata was already one of our favorite jungle destinations and now we were given full control of how we did each activity, how much time we could spend at each location and if we wanted, just park the boat on a river bank and spend time listening to the river or simply float downriver to the sounds coming from the jungle.
The isolation and flexibility not only gave us the opportunity to just spend time reading, relaxing and reconnecting. In the evenings we spent time by an open fire watching an artist weave a tapestry with palm strands, listening to the native community shaman tell us about local traditions, ancient rituals and their mythology. The sky without light pollution was an explosion of start. Maybe it was just luck, but getting to see a jaguar, a puma, and a deer during our stay at the Villa we believe had more to do with our autonomy than just chance. At el Chuncho clay lick we stayed for 3 extra hours after all other visitors departed. The experience was the best we ever had at the clay lick. The amount of birds that came down to the clay was staggering. Having a cappuccino with a full service breakfast at the lick was a superbly elegant touch. The most extraordinary nature experience for us was our 8-hour outing to Sachavacayok Oxbow Lake. We had the trail that took us to the lake all to ourselves. We took our time hanging out with troops of monkeys, got to see some amazing birds along the way. Floating on the lake with no set time for our return to the villa gave us a chance to just wait and let nature happen. Our lunch by the creek was perfect and the water provides us with a show of every changing pastel color patterns reflecting on the water.
All around a mesmerizing experience.
