Pool Area: 5 stars! Private, tropical, lush!
Outdoor Shower: 4 stars. Convenient, but strange because it had a toilet right next to the shower. Still, showering outside is fantastic
Beds: 5 stars! We only used the main bedroom with the king-sized bed, but it was comfy.
A/C: 5 stars! The A/C worked great and there were fans. We were able to stay comfortable the whole time. You will have to pay for electric overages (quite common).
Kitchen: 3 stars. The appliances worked well and there are many small appliances to use. However, the pots/pans/dishes all need to be replaced. They are old, stained, and worn.
Bathrooms: 3 stars. We used the toilet in one bathroom but showered in the other. The toilet in the bathroom off the kitchen had a wonky seat and it wasn't worth messing with. The larger shower in the other bathroom had an old, rusted, and clogged showerhead so the water pressure was not great. We liked the shower layouts because they were open and allowed us to use the smaller shower at the same time.
Beach: 5 stars! The proximity was amazing and the beach was gorgeous! There's an umbrella at the house and some chairs that we didn't use.
Neighborhood: 4 stars. For the most part, it was chill. But at night it could get a bit noisy with neighbors using ATVs and blasting music.
Accommodations: 4.5 stars. It's an older home that could use some upkeep, but it was clean. The pool and yard are well-maintained.
Host: 5 stars! Roger was fantastic and communicated clearly with us. Mike, the neighbor, was very helpful.
Overall, a wonderful stay! We would definitely recommend it for a quiet and private vacation!

Perfect place for a week in the northern Yucatan!
Casa Leila is probably one of the best rentals we have ever had. Roger was a fantastic host, answering many questions before our trip and keeping in touch during our stay to ensure all was going great. He also included a complete guide to the house, area restaurants, and nearby things to do. The house is nicely decorated and comfortable, located in a quiet area. The backyard was an oasis paradise and made our stay. Although the beach is just a two-minute walk, we spent most of our time in the yard enjoying the sun and pool. You can always find sun or shade with the gorgeous gardens in the yard. The pool temperature was always refreshing. A pool cleaner and gardener came once during the week. We could take long walks (2 hours) on the beach heading east. The area was safe and friendly. We enjoyed many good restaurants in Chuburna, Chelem, and Progreso. For excursions, we booked a food tour in Merida (Eating With Carmen), saw some Cenotes and Aztec ruins in the area, and walked the Malecon in Progreso. A rental car is a definite requirement, and the person Roger recommended was top-notch (we arrived late in the evening, and he left us a car at the airport without a signed contract so we could get to Casa Leila that night and deal with the rental contract the next morning). We would stay a Casa Leila again if we returned to the area.

Amazing
We were in heaven. We have stayed in some beautiful resorts in Mexico, but this was amazing. Roger has made the back yard a private oasis!
The house is lovely and clean. It is well stocked with everything you might need. We enjoyed visiting the local shops and cooking for ourselves as well as the local restaurants in Chelem and Progreso.
The beach is beautiful, I spent hours strolling and gathering beautiful shells.
We were worried we would have a hard time communicating here as our Spanish is very limited, but we found a lot of people spoke English also.
Loved our vacation and we are looking forward to heading back to this area soon.

Lovely House Fabulous Pool
My friend and I spent five weeks in this house. The back garden pool area is well maintained, completely private and quite lovely. It even has its own hot shower. Joan, a Canadian woman looks after the property. She was most helpful as was the owner who readily complied with our request for sun loungers and other items we felt the house needed. There's no stove but we managed quite well with a gas stovetop, toaster oven and bar-b-que. I would rent this house again but I would most definitely have a car next time as it's quite remote. Perfect however for anyone who needs to unwind and completely relax. Oh...and great internet.
