Charming house and pool for relaxing.
We loved our stay at 'El Castillejo'. The pool is a great size and the house was perfect for the four for us but it could easily host a larger family. Set in its own grounds it's brilliant for a nice relaxing holiday. Ronda is a great place, loads to see and do in & around the town. The house is set up great for kids, loads of lovely touches to make it a special place and lots to explore in the grounds. The twenty minute journey from Ronda to Alpandeire has some fantastic views. Santiago is the perfect host - a lovely guy. Always happy to help if required and he went as far as tour guiding us around the area a couple of times. It was a great privilege to be able to help ourselves to the organic vegetables from the house gardens. Great value for money, we would highly recommend this quirky house.

Hello family. Thank you very much for this so nice and sincere comment. I am very satisfied of that you have spent it very well in my house in your vacations. Been Habeis my first British family in my house and I have been lucky because you are a very nice family. Perfect
The house and gardens were absolutely beautiful, extremely peaceful and private which is what we needed after a very difficult year. I would heartily recommend it to any couples or families wanting a proper break from it all.

Encantadora y tranquila casa rural en plena naturaleza.
La casa se encuentra aislada pero muy cerca de la villa de Alpandeire, a unos 300 metros de distancia por un camino que se encuentra en buenas condiciones para los coches.
Una semana en junio con mi marido y mis 2 hijos se nos hizo muy corta.
La ciudad de Ronda se encuentra a unos 16 kilómetros, una ciudad muy bonita y llena de turistas que merece la peña visitar, aunque en un solo día no te da tiempo de verlo todo.
Las ciudades de Granada, Córdoba y Sevilla no quedan muy lejos.
Recomiendo esta casa a familias con niños o simplemente parejas que quieran disfrutar de una tranquilidad absoluta en la que solo escucharan el canto de los pájaros.

Fantastic Holiday !!!
We have travelled for years around Spain and never returned to the same place.
El Castillejo has changed our holiday plans for the future as we will be going back to this amazing rural villa surrounded by the most adorable views.
We were meet by Santiago and he was very welcoming and showed us around. He gave us great detail regarding the surrounding area.
We have never felt so relaxed and within the first night it felt like home.
It was very clean and had everything you could possibly need.
We appreciated the local wine that was left and for the advice to go shopping before coming down to the villa.
We could help ourselves to the wonders of El Castillejo fresh vegetables /fruit/nuts that Santiago takes so much pride and time on.
We appreciated and enjoyed conversing using our terrrible Spanish and Santiagos good english ( Google translate was helpful and we enjoyed learning different words)
Santiago is an amazing chap with lots of local knowledge. He advised us about the amazing things that Ronda had to offer and we enjoyed the local restaurants/shops.
Both Santiago and us had a birthday while in Spain and we both exchanged gifts. His being a beautiful plum tree for the garden.
This holiday has brought us many fond memories. I'm thinking that tree is sat with the most amazing view and I'm determined to visit next year to see how it's grown.
Hope my review doesn't result in me struggling to book our next visit.

Many thanks Gemma and Andy for this wonderful comment about my house and my person. As I tell you in the house my line of work for all my guests is to make a friend on your departure and have a good memory of your stay in my house. Having a relationship of friendship and hospitality with all my guests is better than a cold treat which they offer you in a hotel or elsewhere. My job is that all my guests feel at home or even better.

Peaceful, tranquil country house in beautiful area
We loved our three-week stay at El Castillejo. Although we have holidayed in Spain several times, this was our first holiday - and first visit - in the Ronda area, and we had a great time. We were looking for a tranquil, relaxing country house with pool, privacy, and views, and El Castillejo provided all of this and more....
The house is just a short 300m walk from the village of Alpandeire, and has a great pool, wi-fi, fruit and vegetables orchard, very good inside and outside kitchens, and all the necessary resources and facilities for a relaxing, happy stay. Although close enough to walk to the village, the house and gardens are not overlooked at all, and offers great peace and privacy.
Owner Santiago visits every 2-3 days to clean the pool, water the fruit and vegetable garden, and generally maintain the external area of the house and grounds, and is otherwise available via email or phone for any questions or potential difficulties. Santiago speaks some English, and we felt very able to converse using some English, a few basic Spanish words, and Santiago's phone app translator. I greatly enjoyed speaking with Santiago, and he is very willing to help and assist in any and every way.
Santiago was born about 25km from Alpandeire, and knows 'everything' about the local area through his personal and working experiences. He is very willing to advise on anything about the countryside around the house, or the Ronda area, or the wider province. He can advise on places to visit, restaurants, etc...
Santiago positively encourages guests to pick and eat the vegetables, herbs and fruits that grow in the gardens, including cucumbers, peppers, eggplants, onions, tomatoes, raspberries, lemons, limes, mint, etc etc...
The local village - Alpandeire - has a bakery, a small general shop, and 2-3 bars. Many of the local villages are similar to Alpandeire, and all look beautiful in the mountainous environment. Most of the local villages have at least a couple of bars / restaurants, and the blue-washed 'Smurf' village of Juzcar is just 6km away.
The larger town of Ronda is about 20km away, and this is where we shopped in supermarkets. Ronda is also a beautiful, historic town to visit for it's history, culture and amazing scenery. Although we ourselves spent most of our time relaxing by the pool, or walking or running in the local hills, or driving to the surrounding villages / Ronda, the coast and cities like Granada, Malaga, and Sevilla are not too far from the house, and can reached relatively easily.
The house and area lived up to our hopes and expectations, and we had a very happy three-week stay. We were very sad to have to leave at the end of our holiday
