Lovely gite
La Garenne is a lovely gite in the small village of Exideuil.It is spotlessly clean and has everything you need to have a fantastic holiday.The gite is just beside the river and has great views from the gite and bedroom balcony.Dave and Heather are on hand if needed but are not intrusive at all.It has an overground pool which would be available in the summer months which is a great as it does get very warm in the Charente.We will definitely be back.

Real France, Real Nice
Lovely location on the banks of the Vienne river. Exideuil is a sleepy village, typical of many in the beautiful area of rural France, with a shop, bar, bakers and pharmacy. Chabanais, with its supermarket is a short drive away.
The gite is very clean and comfortable, with everything you want and need on a self-catering holiday.
Dave and Heather are delightful hosts, always available if you need them but leaving you in peace to enjoy your holiday in their superbly appointed accommodation. The pool was perfect for the hot weather we experienced.
Liked it so much, we've booked again next year!

Top quality accommodation
Our stay was very pleasant, despite the changeable weather. The owners of the accommodation have done an excellent job in ensuring that all of the home comforts are provided, and are very discreet. There was no problem with approaching them to ask questions about the area etc when we needed to, and they are both incredibly helpful and friendly.
The accommodation is in a very pleasant location, where every day French life can be observed and appreciated. A short walk to the Boulangerie was an almost daily treat, and there is a big supermarket close by for larger purchases. A great location, and a very comfortable gite indeed.

Fabulous position, very comfortable gite
Lovely welcome from Dave to start a great week. A quiet position across from the river with only a short walk to the village. The gite provides everything you could need and the bikes made for a lovely ride along the river to Chabanais for the local market. Perfectly positioned for great days out. Both Dave and Heather very friendly, while remaining unobtrusive but ensuring we knew they were available should we need anything - lovely couple.

Excellent place to stay
This is a lovely property, very comfortable and in a brilliant location if you would like peace and quiet in which to relax. The garden and pool are ideal for relaxing in - the raised seating area by the pool is private for sunbathing and the shaded seating under the pergola is lovely for when it gets too hot. The property itself is very clean and well equipped and the beds are very comfortable. The view of the river both from the balcony and the garden is addictive!
Dave and Heather are lovely hosts - very helpful but they leave you in peace to get on with your holiday and do not interfere, so you need have no worries about them living next door.
Many thanks for a lovely holiday Dave and Heather - even if you could not guarantee the sun!

Absolutely beautiful!
We booked this gite based on the photographs displayed in the advertisement and I have to say as lovely as it looks it was even more beautiful in real life. On arrival the host, Dave, had sent us excellent directions which took us directly to the accommodation and we were met with a friendly welcome when we got there. The bottle of wine and flowers were an extra nice touch. We were shown round and I was extremely pleased as the gite was furnished with everything we could need on our stay. The main bed was extremely comfortable and both my husband and I slept really well during our stay. We were lucky as the weather was gorgeous but the view from the bedroom balcony where we ate breakfast in the mornings was stunning. Dave was attentive and on hand should we need any information regarding the surrounding areas, was always happy to help and our deposit was returned way within time. My husband and I had a lovely, relaxing stay and would recommend to anyone. Thank you :)

Excellent accommodation in a fantastic area
Le Terrier is everything it is advertised to be. It is spacious, very well equipped, and clean. As a family of four, we wanted for nothing, and didn't find ourselves tripping over each other at all. It is also beautifully cool in the summer heat. Dave and Heather are fabulous hosts. They default to a very discrete position, but are on hand for any queries. They absolutely bend over backwards to resolve any issues that may arise, and we instantly warmed to their genuine and helpful nature. We were met with a much needed bottle of wine, and a selection of goodies to get us through the first evening / morning. If you have any concerns about living next door to the owners, then we can assure you that it is definitely a benefit to have Dave and Heather nearby, and you won't lose any privacy (if that is a concern, it wasn't for us). I won't write too much about the area as I'm sure you will do your own research, however it is lovely and quiet around "Le Terrier". A few minutes drive gets you to the local restaurants and shops, and there are ample things to visit within 30 minutes drive. As mentioned by another reviewer, we also spent several evenings sat on the terrace watching and listening to the river - it's hypnotic. In summary, it is our view that Le Terrier is high quality accommodation, fantastic value for money, and we couldn't have wished for a better holiday or hosts.

Ce gite placé au bord de la vienne est très bien placé, et bien aménagé. Ses propriétaires anglais ont le sens de l'accueil et de l'hospitalité, dans une ambiance familiale. Côté équipements, il y a tout !... Ne réfléchissez pas, j'ai dit TOUT !
La pièce principale est un peu basse de plafond, mais on l'oublie vite. Tout était nickel propre à notre arrivée, et si nous n'avons pas profité de la petite piscine, c'est qu'il pleuvait des cordes !
Donc pas de souci à y revenir, car tout à fait conforme à l'annonce, et au coeur d'une région intéressante.

Gorgeous Sunrise!
We stayed at Le Terrier for a week whilst working on our house nearby. Dave and Heather were very welcoming along with the goodie basket! Everything was there that we needed for our stay. It was clean and well heated for those cold nights. As we were up early, we enjoyed the beautiful sunrises from the balcony over the la Vienne and in the evenings, sitting in the lounge had the gorgeous views of the moon. Shame we were never home in time to sit outside and enjoy our meals in the garden. The town is a short walk away where you can enjoy a meal at the Bar if you feel like a night off cooking. Dave and Heather were always available if we needed any advice.
