My dream since I visited an outdoor home in Guatemala was to live outdoors, and at Casa Princesa my dream came true!! It was wonderfully warm day and night, and the home, with the exception of the bedrooms, was open air living with views of the ocean and cooling breezes during the day. And the shower in the upper master bath/shower was open with stunning views of the green vegetation and the ocean. The home is set back about a 4 minute walk from the beach but the wonderful sounds of the ocean were ever present. This is a beautiful spacious elegant home surrounded by gorgeous landscaping and greenery everywhere you look. The cooling pool in the livingroom was a dream to have after a walk, when it was hot, or to simply hang out with a glass of wine and stare at the ocean. There was not a sound from a neighboring home or resort.....an absolute treat if one desires privacy and peace. While somewhat isolated, the home came with protective dogs (also friendly) that gave us a sense of safety. I parked myself in the hammock in the main living area and barely moved for 2 weeks! Of course, we walked everyday up and down the beach and discovered a wonderful lake-like swimming area where the mouth of the river nearby meets the ocean. It was a magnificent bird sanctuary with hundreds of little turtle heads poking up through the water. The Eco Tour takes you here and is not to be missed. The other incredible part of staying at Casa Princesa which allowed me to stay in the hammock is that we didn't have to prepare one meal, and in fact were cooked breakfast and dinner by an experienced and trained chef. I've never eaten Mexican food like this before: perfectly flavored, not too heavy and and tailored to our preferences. Breakfast comes with the rental, and we contracted for the other meals, which were incredibly reasonable. Once we had Reyna's food, we had no interest in going out. She and her husband Arturo took amazing care of us, cleaning the place everyday, and taking care of all our needs. Not only would I return for a long stay, but I would recommend this place for anything from a solo experience to a large family or friend group gathering.

Si te gusta realmente descansar y estar con la naturaleza, este es el lugar ideal. Es la 3 vez que llegamos a esta casa y descansamos y comemos delicioso. ¡ Claro que volveríamos a alojarnos ahi!!!

Our family of 4 had the pleasure of spending 3 months at casa princesa during the Covid crisis and had a truly memorable experience. The house is extremely private, tucked away on the outskirts of majahua a tiny fishing village. The house is surrounded by nature and as you climb the spiral staircase to the second floor you are greeted by a large open plan living space , plunge pool , large kitchen with excellent amenities. Then you have the incredible view, mountains , the sea and surrounding trees. Because you are above the canopy and for anyone interested in birds it is a true paradise. My 7 year old is now in the Uk what we call a ‘twitcher’ Climbing the next staircase you reach the comfortable master bedroom with balcony and bathroom with the best view I have ever had while showering. On the bottom floor there are 2 large multi bed en-suite split level rooms, as a family we just slept on the top floor so they were un used but as a large group sharing the cost and using these rooms it makes casa princesa extremely affordable. Arturo and Reyna are the housekeepers and are kind, genuine and really helpful, they work incredibly hard keeping the place spotless, Reyna is a fantastic cook for Mexican cuisine and our favourite dish were her Chile Rellenos. The house comes with 4 cats and 2 very sweet dogs mocha and oso who will be sorely missed! There is a private track which is a few minutes walk to majahua beach and ten minutes walk along the beach there is a rivermouth lagoon full of wildlife. These aren’t negatives but just things to bear in mind... a car is ideally needed for groceries and to reach troncones which is a 5 ish minute drive. If you struggle with stairs then this isn’t the place for you. Due to the height of the house and it’s open plan nature during the heat of the day the living spaces have nice cooling breezes in the Mexican heat so you are always comfortable. The pool is more of a plunge pool and is shaded so the water can feel fresh... it’s great when it’s hotter and humid to cool off but a bit chilly when you first get in but fine after that. That being said you have the warm pacific right on your doorstep so it’s not an issue. I will miss seeing the sun rise from behind the mountains as I grab my board to go for a surf and the sunsets with a glass of wine on the balcony along with everything else mentioned above. This is a three story home in a small town. The host is very prompt in responding to any questions. This was a last minute reservation. We got lost and had we googled the location. I would have seen that it is on the map and I would have gone straight to the home. Rides to get to the place are super bumpy. It’s pretty much dirt roads. There is a few restaurants around but nothing fancy. When we arrived to the home. We were greeted by a couple. Reyna is the cook. As well as the one in charge of keeping home clean and the husband cares for the grounds. The house has a lot of stairs. Two bedrooms and two baths on the first floor. Both of these rooms have several beds. Second floor is the living room, dining room kitchen and pool. Third floor is the master bedroom, private balcony and bathroom. The bathroom is open with a half wall. Super scary for me and my guest because we always saw lizards. So going out to use bathroom at night was scary. The home is pretty but really nothing around but the ocean. Which that in itself is beautiful and extremely peaceful. You have no one bothering you to but this and that. We have the whole beach to ourselves. The home also comes with two dogs Oso, Maca and some cats. The dogs will follow you through the beach path and Maca will stay with you at all times. Even if you are not pet friendly. One of them will bother you or jump on you. They are super mindful at all times. Both Reyna and Arturo are very attentive. This would have been an awesome stay had we been told that they have frequent power outages but have a generator to use as back up. So our first night the power went out and we had no phone service or internet to inform owner through AirBNB. My night as well as our families night was miserable because it was super hot and too scared to go anywhere because of the frequent lizards. When Reyna and her husband arrived. They realized power was out and immediately turned on generator. She said she forgot to tell us that they have a back up generator and all we had to do was call them day or night and they would come turn it on. Once I had internet. I informed owner and at my request she removed one full nights charge. Second night and again the power goes out. Well now we are prepared because earlier Reyna gave us her number number to call but after numerous attempt. No one ever answered. So I as well as my family had another miserable night. My suggestions is to have instructions or a manual on how to use a generator. This way if guest don’t have phone service. They can attempt to turn the generator on. Also including Reyna and/or Arturos number for emergencies. In this laminated sheet that they have with instructions. They also have a washer and dryer but it is in the detached garage. I could not find it but the home listed that it had a washer and dryer. Then I remembered to ask and that’s when I was informed of its location. The place was clean. Has beautiful views of the ocean and you can hear the waves at all times because that’s how close you are. Not sure if the pool is too cold because it is on the second floor but it was too cold for me to get in and we stayed end of May beginning of June. Maybe they will one day make it a heated pool. The macas were fun. Last but not least. Reyna cooks anything you want but honestly. The decor and how food was displayed was beautiful but it needed more seasoning. Or maybe every state has it special seasonings and they were just not to my liking. This place would have been almost perfect. Had both of our nights not have been without power because that caused us to have no air conditioner, phone service and internet. This is important and helpful to knows Stairs from first floor to the second floor has 27 steps. Second to third floor has 21 steps. That’s almost 50 steps to get to the the third floor and people with bad knees might not be able to handle all these stairs.

My girlfriend and I had an amazing time at Casa Princessa Del Mar. The house is beautiful, the beach is beautiful, and the food was amazing. I highly recommend staying here!

The location is very remote. Paved roads in Troncones, watch out for the many speed bumps, then onto a dirt road in Majahua. The house is beautiful with a Master bedroom on the top level and two lockouts on the first level. Each lockout has a King, queen, and two twins. Reyna and Arturo take care of the place and two of the nicest people you'll meet. Reyna's cooking is FABULOUS. Arturo will take you out fishing. There are two dogs and four cats and they are wonderful and gentle. The beach below is great for walking, but I didn't venture too far into the water due to an abundance of sea urchins. There is a great beach for swimming and boogie boarding at the Crocodile Crossing. I cannot recommend this place enough.

I can't stop thinking about this place. I've been home for a month and i catch myself daydreaming about sitting in the sun, swimming in warm ocean water, taking dips in the infinity pool, watching parrots and parakeets fly branch to branch in jungle trees between the house and the beach, and catching bonitas and sierras in a little motor boat out in the ocean. (Thank you, Arturo!) This trip was a lovely, safe, exciting adventure. For this first visit, i went with girlfriends. I'd go in a heartbeat with all of them again; I'd also love to return with my family. My husband and teens would love this. So would our extended family and all the cousins. Fortunately, this casa could easily fit-- and feed (thank you, Reyna!) -- all 10 of us, so i imagine another trip is in our near future.

A group of six hard-working moms had the most amazing vacation at Casa Princesa del Mar! This stunning, spacious home is unique for its open air living space with infinity pool and kitchen on the second level, master bedroom with open shower and bath on third level, and huge and comfy bedrooms on the ground level. All of the rooms have air-conditioning and lovely linens. But the greatest treasure is Reyna who provided delicious and authentic Mexican style breakfasts and dinners upon order. The beach was all ours and had perfect waves for body surfing, boogie boarding, with boards available on the terrace for guests. We had everything we needed, including quality paperbacks, games, hammocks, ping pong and of course swimming in the refreshing infinity pool. The mornings were perfect tranquility with only the sound of tropical birds and crashing waves to accompany your coffee, and the nights are pure magic. Stargazers will be amazed by the clear night sky! When we weren't enjoying the beautiful meals prepared by Reyna, we were shopping in the quaint town of Troncones. We had a delightful morning paddling an estuary where we saw amazing wildlife, including iguanas climbing trees along the shore. We also ventured to the nearby Mahajua Palms Resort, a short 5 minute walk on the beach where, for the price of a coffee or fresh coconut, one can connect to free Wifi on its cool terrace or take a dip in its beautiful pool. The trip to Mahajua is a relatively-short drive from the airport, and we found that the residents of the small towns of Troncones and Mahajua are families who run the local restaurants and business and made us all feel welcome. Being smaller communities and not flashy resort towns, we did not have concerns for our safety and would gladly return with our families. All in all, this was the most relaxing and rejuvenating vacation I have experienced, and my family is lobbying for their chance to visit La Casa Princesa del Mar next winter!

Casa del Princessa exceeded our expectations in beauty, comfort, surroundings and safety. I was concerned about the travel warnings before going but upon arriving and meeting Reyna and Arturo, I felt very well cared for. They take care of the house as if it were their own and Reyna's food is the MOST delicious I've ever had! Please also have Arturo book an Eco tour with Javier. Javier is a Naturalist and such a lovely guy who speaks English and who really cares about the areas natural habitats. This vacation couldn't have been more perfect!
