Well appointed and stylish cottage on the fabulous Walkersons estate. Lovely views over the dams and hills and great walking trails and trout fishing. Warm and friendly welcome from hosts Patsy and Andrew (and golden retriever Tosh!) whose knowledge of the area and in particular the local bird and wildlife was excellent. Andrew happily took one of our party bird watching around the estate. A lovely and comfortable stay in a beautiful location. Highly recommended.

Family weekend
We had the best weekend in a lovely cottage. Lots of peace and quiet with trout fishing, horseriding and beautiful views. We cannot wait to return!!

Far from the Madding Crowd
Watersmeet is a wonderful, relaxing cottage approximately 10 minutes past the town of Dullstroom. It is one of the houses with the Walkersons Estate therefore one has peace of mind in terms of safety. The estate is scenic, splattered with dams for trout fishing or just picnicking as well as hiking trails which we really enjoyed. The cottage is tucked away in a tranquil setting of ponds and greenery occasionally visited by roaming zebra. Our hosts Patsy and Allen ensured that we were comfortable during our stay at the cottage. I would definitely stay here again next time i am in Dullstroom.

A wonderful break-away in nature
From the moment we arrived at Patsy and Andrew's Watersmeet Cottage, we had a wonderful time. The cottage is beautiful, comfortable and characteristic, with special touches. The comfortable and cosy lounge has a wonderful fire place, which we made use of on a rainy day. Both bedrooms have bay window with reading seats onto lovely views (one of the garden, and one of the spectacular Walkersons valley). The patio is a dream, and faces a manicured garden and lily pond, and the valley beyond. There is crisp linen on the beds, which are super comfy, and lovely soft towels. The kitchen is very well-equipped. The cottage is completely immersed in nature, and is a perfect place to relax, unwind and to dream. We loved the greater Walkersons Estate, and ventured out as a family on hikes, cycle trails, horseriding, fishing and picnicking along the river and lakes. Patsy and Andrew are wonderful, warm and interesting people, and they made us feel very welcome, providing us with some great suggestions on things to explore and do. We hope to return soon to this amazing place.

Most amazing honeymoon at Allen's meet cottage.
What an amazing honeymoon we had at Allen's meet cottage. The host, Patsy was super friendly and helpful with all of our questions.
On the first day, Patsy surprised us with an amazing bottle of Champaign.
The cottage was super clean, cosey, and comfortable. As it was mentioned, it is a self-catering cottage, however, Patsy provided us with dishwashing tablets, soups, toilet paper, coffee, tea, sugar, wood, sheree and lots more.
The fireplace was absolutely breath taking inside the living room.
The host had the most beautiful golden retrievers on the property. Never in my life had I ever stayed over at a cottage with such sweet and well mannered dogs.
The views are something special. No camera can ever capture the beauty in the same way.
We will definitely be back again, and would recommend this place to anyone seeking an escape from the hustle and bustle of the city.

A beautiful old stone cottage with a cozy homely feel
We had a wonderful summer stay at Watersmeet Cottage and have so many good things to say. It’s a beautiful old stone cottage with a cozy homely feel and lovely views of the surrounding Walkerson Estate. We got along very well with Patsy and Andrew who made us feel ultra-welcome.
The cottage was spotlessly clean and the facilities were excellent. We sat on the patio and enjoyed the lovely views and the plentiful birds. The hosts are very nature friendly and as a result there was a wide diversity of birds present, even little duiker in the well-kept gardens.
Other aspects that we appreciated were that the cottage has easy access to the Walkerson Hotel with good coffee, meals and its many amenities for the men, ladies and children. The hotel includes a spa and a horse riding stable at the hotel with friendly well-kept horses suitable for beginners take on guided rides through the estate. We are not fishermen, but the estate offers top class fly fishing for trout. The estate has top quality security, which made us feel completely safe throughout our stay.
We also liked was the easy access to Dullstroom town with its quirky but quality restaurants, which we felt safe driving there for dinner.
Overall a fantastic stay and we will definitely be visiting again.

I wish we could have stayed longer!
We love Dullstroom and particularly the Walkersons Estate. We have stayed at this cottage several times and loved each and every minute. The kitchen is well equipped and all super comfy and cozy. Can't wait for our next opportunity to return!

VERY DISAPPOINTING - BEWARE !
I have had the most shocking experience at this cottage & hope others will be warned.
We arrived to a cold Dullstroom that was experiencing a power outage (the owners cannot be held responsible I agree). But, under the circumstances the facilities were very poor. A 2 plate gas stove meant we could boil some water in a pot for a coffee. There were 2 candles provided and a fire place with wood.
When the electricity had still not come on by the next day we decided to leave Dullstroom.
The owner now claims a candle burnt her "hand made" lamp shade and is expecting me to reimburse her for the cost thereof!. I am of the opinion if this did indeed occur it would have been beyond my control, due to NO visibility in the cottage from the time of arrival.
Under the circumstances the facilities were poor considering we arrived in the dark and no back-up emergency lighting (battery operated lighting or torches) were provided. It was also mentioned on our arrival by our host that power outages are a common occurrence in the area.
If you run a business like this please be prepared, under any kind of circumstances, to make the necessary provision for guests. It is far too convenient to claim "beyond our control !" as our hosts frequently mentioned to us.

Awesome setting - the South African Highlands!
Rare to find 5 Star, self catering accommodation for a single traveller or couple in an area mostly catering for large family groups. Highly recommended for anyone who knows what to do with a fly rod. Otherwise the peace in this estate, with winding streams, river, weirs and dams, together with the zebra, assorted buck and other wildlife grazing on the hills around you made my stay memorable. So nice to come back to a warm fire and spotless accomodation at the end of the day.
