The cottage was very nice. The best part was the locks on the deck, so we could essentially make a fortress and our 4 year old could explore without any risks. The screened-in front room is excellent to have breakfast or brunch in, catching a nice breeze from the lake. It is about ten minutes away from the city, which is a perfect distance if you aren't looking to completely get away from civilization. You're far enough away, but you're always a short drive from shopping and other sites. We visited Sonnenberg Gardens, which is beautiful with a ton of statues and historical memorabilia. There are lake access points very close to the property, but the property itself is not directly on the lake. One bedroom had a large A/C unit, and the kitchen and bedrooms are stocked with necessities like fans and cookware. The tap water reminded me of Fiji bottled water, so the area also has that going for it. Smokeman BBQ and a General Store (with a really good breakfast pizza) are within a five minute walk. Our family enjoyed our stay, and would think about renting this property again should we return to the area.

This was a very lovely place to stay and great for our little family of three. The only reason for 4 stars instead of 5 is that though near the lake and near lake access, that access is down the road and several houses away (a simple enough walk, but farther than backdoor access) Again this was a great comfortable and lovely cottage to stay in. The kitchen was well stocked with basic cooking supplies and storage containers. It is a nicely maintained place with great deck and little yard area and the sleeping porch a great place to relax with a book and enjoy a nice breeze. Lisa was also quick to respond to inquiries and provided helpful information all through the booking process and with details prior to our stay.
