We (2 adults and 17 yr old son) stayed at this apartment over the Christmas and New Year holidays 2019. Lovely apartment and resort. We were looking for a peaceful holiday in the sun and that is exactly what we got! Tortuga resort staff are excellent/friendly and work very hard to make sure you have a lovely stay (Suzianna on pool and beach bar went above and beyond to help in anyway giving us information about the island and resort she is a credit to Tortuga staff) We chose to stay self catering as we wanted to explore Santa Maria but there is an all inclusive option.(only downside was there was no supermarket on site the nearest shop for supplies was on another resort Villa Verde which is a good walk especially if you are carrying water supplies) Tortuga have a small gift shop which we thought would be better used as a mini supermarket. We had some meals and drinks on the resort which to be fair were reasonably priced for the quality. The Beach Bar and Grill was our favourite lovely atmosphere so much so we enjoyed Christmas evening meal there always live music and sunsets to die for! New Years Eve we went to Santa Maria The Dublin Bar which we ate in frequently (great homemade food) we returned to Tortuga were they had a big party on the beach live music and dancing. This was our first time to Sal but we will be back Santa Maria is a lovely surfing town lots of bars and resturaunts and markets people are lovely very friendly the hub of the town is the pier where the locals gather fishing and surfing and it is unspoilt no high rise buildings. Thankyou to Wendy for letting us stay in this lovely apartment she was always available should we have any questions I would definitely recommend it to couples and families alike.

The resort itself is lovely, and has lots to offer - pools, entertainment and a lovely beach just a minutes walk away. The apartment is nice and ideally located next to the pool. We were in a private self-catering apartment, while most people on the resort appear to be all inclusive. However...when we arrived at 12.30am at reception, the key to the apartment didn't work - so we had to wait till the very rude and angry cleaner came from the neighboring town to open it. When we finally got in - there was no bedding at all on my daughters bed. At 2am - this was a pretty unpleasant start to the stay. This and any other issues were gradually resolved on communicating with the owner. I would recommend this if the issues with the cleaner and hotel are fixed, as the apartment and resort and the place are wonderful.

We spent 2 weeks in this quiet flat fully equiped, with a private terrace with 4 seats and table, a direct view and access to the pools. Enjoyable the architecture & garden space of this resort is very well daily maintained. Let say with a roman style of villas divided in 8 flats (4 +4) You can perfectly enjoy a non all inclusive stay at The Resort where the food service buffet is really not corresponding to 5*. The Sta Maria pier and the dowtown municipality market, as the supermarkets, will supply you fresh fish and vegetables & fruits...at a normal European prices....So up to u to cook in the kitchen of this flat or not, but it s such a pleasure to prepare or only eat Tuna Wahoo or groopers live/fresk from the day catch... Whatever most of the Seashore restaurants out of the ressort will propose you fresk fish BBQ...every days...in Ponta Preta and at the SantaMaria Beach. Its location in the Melia is good even if you have each evening the music of the kids show 7pm and adult spectacle 20h. The NNE to ENE winds were really strong on the period and the seashore was with big swell. Too strong to really enjoy the island and all the seashores to discover off road with quads or SUV cars. So most of the people stay lazy around the pools, or laying on the chairs & beds of the private beach but if you wish to enjoy the bath in the sea and the beach, you have the option of Santa Maria village. SAL is full of Kite Surf spots to discover, but mostly for medium to good levels. For surf is really windy at least at the time...

We just had a wonderful holiday at Cape Verde. The apartment is very spacious, clean and well kept. It is located inside the beautiful 'Melia Tortuga Beach Resort' . It is self catering but we have the option of going all inclusive if required. There is a Kids paddling pool just outside the apartment along with the bigger swimming pool for the adults. My daughter had a lovely time at the swimming pool every morning while me and my wife relaxed in the verandah . Also the Kids club is just outside the apartment . Kept my daughter happily engaged . The beach is just 3 mins walk from the apartment and its lovely. The resort has got a couple of good restaurants and a gym and a spa. There is a small shop quite close to the resort where we bought some essentials like Teas, milk and coffee. A 3 euro taxi takes one to Santa Maria which is a good place for restaurants and some water sports as well. The resort has very good entertainment programs every evening for both kids and adults. Wendy, the owner was a very gracious host and helpful in providing the right information before we moved in. All in all, Cape verde is a great place for a holiday and I would highly recommend Wendys apartment for accommodation. Will visit again.

The location is amazing. Beach 5 minute walk where we did some free snorkeling. All 3 pools were stunning. Supermarket 10 minute walk with 2 restaurants close by (a lot cheaper to eat here than at the resort). Taxi into the main town 3 euro's where everything is, beach, loads of restaurants, market stalls selling loads of souvenirs, massages for 18 euro's (just near the main supermarket). Nearly every restaurant will do a take away if you fancy a night in with a bottle from the supermarket. You must do kite beach which was 4 euros from the resort and the island tour is a must. Nous avons passé un excellent séjour dans cet appartement moderne et conforme aux photos. A proximité immédiate des piscine mais au calme, a 300 m de la très belle plage. Attention restaurants de l'hôtel très chers ( mais la propriétaire nous avait prévenu ), il vaut mieux prendre un taxi pour 3 euros et aller passer un bon moment a santa maria ! Propriétaire réactive a toutes les demandes, sympathique.

Prima appartement op Melia Tortuga Beach Resort. Als bewoner van het appartement kun je gebruik maken van de faciliteiten van het resort. Optioneel is all inclusive bij te boeken. Dat is in verhouding wel erg duur. Je kunt in Santa Maria prima eten voor minder geld. Een taxi naar Santa Maria kost 3 of 4 euro. Lopen kan ook, hou rekening met een wandeling van een minuut of 45. Het appartement zelf is verzorgd, heeft een eigen terras en ligt ideaal op het complex. Dichtbij de receptie, waar elke avond live muziek is, zonder dat je daar teveel last van hebt. Het appartement heeft zicht op één van de zwembaden (het rustigste) en de Kidsclub, waar het in januari niet druk was. Het complex ligt direct aan een schitterend zandstrand. Op het gebied van keukengerei is voldoende aanwezig. Neem wel zelf theedoek, keukenhanddoek en vaatdoek mee.

We booked this apartment though Holidaylettings.co.uk directly with the owner (Wendy B.). The owner of apartment 330 was very responsive to any enquiry we had and the booking was straightforward and hassle free. From the moment of our arrival at the apartment our expectations were surpassed by the location, facilities and cleanliness. The apartment is located next to the childrens pool/club and should one have brought small children with you, you could easily have sat on your ground floor terrace and observed them either on the outside trampoline, playing on the pool table (free), splashing around in the small swimming pool or inside the club house where they would be entertained by the pleasant friendly staff. The larger pool is some twenty meters away surrounded by plenty of sun loungers. It was with great hilarity we observed guests placing towels on loungers from some as early as 6:30 only to return after a hearty breakfast to discover that all towels had been removed by hotel staff and taken to the main building. Despite some guests trying to outsmart the staff by also placing books on the lounger (which were available from in the small bookcase by the side of the pool) theirs too were removed. I must compliment the hotel for this, much fairer to all. Our apartment was clean and tidy and had all which we required. Excellent beds, safe, air-conditioning in front room and master bedroom, flat screen tv's (with movies, news and sport also in English) constant hot water with good pressure. The hotel is located on a beach though as others have mentioned it is not ideal for swimming due to waves and rocks in the sea. We spent almost everyday on the beach in Santa Maria, left to the pier. Lovely clean beach and crystal clear sea, plenty to observe and free sun loungers courtesy of Sal Beach Club (and where you can grab a pint for 3 Euro, free wifi and Premier League football). A hotel shuttle into town is available or a taxi for 3 Euro, we chose to take a leisurely 40 minute walk from apartment to pier. The town of Santa Maria is such a contrast to the luxury of the Tortuga Resort however one which should not be missed. Lots of different types of restaurants and amazingly friendly people. Trips of the island are available and we chose to use a local operator "Dilan & Ola Tours" rather than the more well known at nearly twice the price. For 25 Euro p.p. we were picked up and returned to the Tortuga after a seven hour tour of everything there is to see on Sal from the blue eye, sharks bay, salt lakes, turtle beach, Palmeira fishing village, oasis, radar tower etc etc. Personal service from Ola who provides you with plenty of information without any stress of the clock. The day was for his customers and this shone through. The Tortuga Resort is a well run complex where no drunken loutish behaviour was observed, though a mixed atmosphere of young and old. A good balance in this FIVE STAR complex. With respect to the All inclusive program we chose not to part with 81 Euro p.p.p.d. though would have liked to have been able to purchase a drink from one of the resorts bar without having first open up an account at reception with a credit card. However a bottle of wine purchased in town was great to partake in whilst sitting on the apartment terrace listening to the varied evening entertainment and watching the people walk by. Sound proofing in the apartment is excellent and never woken by noises from outside. To sum up, lovely luxurious apartment, great resort and fantastic Cape Verdean people. It's a must to return which we hope to in 2015.

Never having visited Cape Verde before, I was not sure what to expect. I wasn't disappointed. Sal is underdeveloped but you can see the potential. We stayed in a five star resort just outside one of the main towns. Our apartment was exactly as described - very clean, modern and comfortable. We overlooked one of the resorts swimming pools and could not have asked for a better spot. Each night we used our patio area to take in the beautiful surroundings with a drink in hand. Perfect. We took the option to go self catering, although this is an all inclusive resort. In my opinion, this was a good decision as each evening we travelled into the town of Santa Maria and were able to enjoy the local atmosphere, the friendly people and a variety of food. The deserted beaches were accessible direct from the resort and were magnificent. All in all, a great holiday.
