Beautiful beach condo (But beware of the sargazo “invasion”!)
Everything about this place was pleasant - wonderful location, people, service, etc - save for the sargazo "invasion". My rating reflects this issue. Otherwise I would give it a five.
The sargazo, a plant akin a form of algae floating on the water, reaches the shore everyday in huge amounts. So excessive is the accumulation that as this “thing” piles up (Literally) on the beach, it’s degradation generates a very unpleasant smell, like something's rotten.
We had to keep our apartment’s beach-facing large sliding doors always closed because of the stinky smell, and only briefly opened them when going out or coming back in.
Before it gets deposited on the shore, the sargazo stays for a long while floating on the water, so the sea waves make a “stew” with it. So what normally would be transparent water becomes muddy water.
Speaking with locals we learned that the problem with the sargazo “invasion” has been known for a while and has been getting worse over the last 2-3 years, specially around this time of the year. It not only affects Akumal, but many places that comprise the “Riviera Maya”, including Cancún, Playa del Carmen, and Tulum, so tourism is taking or will take a toll.
We firmly believe PROSPECTIVE RENTERS SHOULD BE BETTER WARNED OF THE SARGAZO ISSUE AFFECTING THE REGION. I wouldn't go back to Akumal (Or most places on the Riviera Maya) this time of the year.

The Riviera Maya and entire Caribbean coastline have indeed been recently affected by unseasonable amounts of seaweed, or sargassum this year.
Property owners have been limited to manually removing the large quantities of sargassum from Half Moon Bay in wheelbarrows. Heavy machinery, which compacts the sand, is strictly prohibited on the shores of this designated marine sanctuary.
Simply getting rid of the sargassum also removes large quantities of sand, causing heavy erosion and loss of essential beach structure. When the sargassum reaches shore it dies and begins to decompose, sometimes causing an unpleasant smell when the wind shifts. Once the mounds of sargassum dry out the decomposed matter mixes with the sand stabilizing and replenishing the beach as well as adding nutrients to the beach habitat.
We appreciate your suggestion to let future guests know about this force of nature, and future guests will be advised of the current situation, changeable and unpredictable as the currents and wind patterns.

Best Condo-Restaurant-Bar in Akumal!
Three of us stayed in condo #2 downstairs on the beach in this small friendly hotel. Super clean and everything in perfect working order. Thought to go on some excursions but couldn't tear ourselves away from our nest. The hotel faces due east and so we were greeted each morning with the sun streaming into the living room. This is such an easy, delicious 'campsite', we never strayed very far. We did manage a bit of snorkeling, renting mask and fins from the hotel. A perfect 5 days of leisure!

Great place!
We spent 8 days in a 2-bedroom beachfront condo. We had a spectacular view, the condo was impeccable, the kitchen had everything we needed and most importantly, the beds were extremely comfortable! The staff was very friendly and helpful. I would highly recommend this accommodation to anyone looking for a wonderful stay in paradise. We hope to return one day!

tranquil, serene, ocean views, impeccably managed and maintained
Fall asleep and wake up to the sounds of the waves! Beautiful, quiet, spacious condo with full kitchen, master bedroom with views through the living room to the ocean, comfy second bedroom as well with two beds and its own bathroom. We did yoga on the balcony every morning as the sun rose. Clean, tastefully furnished, exquisite details--easy walk to food, beach and snorkeling right outside the condo. We will be back!

Del Sol ROCKS, in every way!
This is our 3rd or 4th time at Del Sol Beachfront because we could not imagine staying anywhere that meets our needs better...
Walk out of the fully loaded kitchen and onto the beach, into aqua blue green water for a morning swim across the bay while observing all of the ocean life along the way. Then sprawl out on our own private beach with adirondack chairs and loungers, shade provided if need by the coconut trees all around (loaded with ready to eat coconuts!). The only soundtrack is the ocean waves. Peace. With no public beach in the bay, the only traffic is a vacationing neighbor who is also deep into their zen. Everyone is kind and helpful. And the restaurant! Buena Vida is amazing-and i am a picky organic vegan...they will serve up the freshest whatever-you-want. All thumbs up.
I hate to be so honest, cause i feel like this place is a gem of a secret-
cool folks only please. Del Sol for the soul!

Third time in Paradise
This was our third visit to Del Sol condo #1. Previously Vista del Mar.
Since 2006 we have enjoyed condo#1.
First floor, great beach right out back door. Great people, friendly maids, absolutely no complaints.
We are returning November 2018 for Dia de los Muertos and Halloween party, at La Buena Vida.
We have been all over, Caribbean,it is our favorite beach.

Snorkeling simplicity
Snorkeling was just a few steps off the shaded patio at Del Sol. We saw turtles, rays, colorful fish and corals. The condo was perfect for our needs, spacious. Kitchen had all the tools we needed to cook in (shop before you arrive.) The staff was pleasant and helpful.

Excellent!
My husband, two teenage kids, and myself stayed at Del Sol for three nights. Wish we would have stayed longer. We were extremely happy with the Del Sol condo. It was beautiful, spacious, and very clean. The staff was very friendly and helpful. Will definitely return!

Ground floor on beach, very clean & quiet
The staff was very helpful & friendly, and everything was lovely. The cleaners were excellent.
Pick up your groceries at the Chedraui by the highway at Puerto Aventuras, or dine at one of the local restaurants. We made trips to Yal-ku and Akumal playa on foot (though you can rent bikes too), and drove to Tankah (Manatee cenote) and Tulum.
The wifi was good, the rooms are spacious; there were hammocks; drinking water was provided.

Fabulous beachfront condo!
Third year staying at this Condo. It's Clean, Quiet and PRIVATE. A 5 minute walk to snorkeling beach if the condo beach is too windy/wavy. 5 minute walk to town with great restaurants. Condo staff is very accommodating. Miguel and Marco at the front desk are awesome.
