Even Better the Second Time!
Returned to Casa de Colores after a three year hiatus. Why did we wait so long?!? The house was just as lovely as we remembered. We came with a group of friends who rented a neighboring property, but we ate almost all of ours at the Casa. This time we took advantage of the Chef Daveed catering service and had many delicious meals filled with laughter. The property manager, Monica, and on-site staff of Gaby and Zulma were very professional. This time we also visited Aktun Chen, which I would highly recommend. Can't wait to come back to the Casa again someday.

La casa de colores es cómoda, decorada con gusto, con una vista increíble, con todo lo necesario para pasarlo super. Tiene además el servicio de limpieza de Zulma y Gabriel que hacen impecable su trabajo y placentera la estadía. Si van dos familias el espacio es más que suficiente, nosotros no debimos utilizar la casa pequeña porque estábamos muy cómodos y a gusto todos juntos en la grande. Super recomendable! Volveríamos sin dudarlo! Ojalá pronto regresemos

Fantastic, beautifully designed home for our Easter week in Akumal.
Fantastic, beautifully designed home on Half Moon Bay in Akumal. Snorkeling steps from the door. Outstanding views from every room and a constant sea breeze. We were three families traveling together. The house, pool and location were perfect for all of us. The third-floor terrace was nice for sunset cocktails and late afternoon yoga! Thanks to Shelly and her partner owners for a fabulous easter week!

Fabulous Vacation for Family and Friends
All we can say is WOW!! We were blown away by the beauty of the location and the House and Casita. We stayed with 3 families (total 6 adults and 3 teens). Two families stayed in the house along with the teens and everyone was very happy with their room accommodations. One couple (no teens) stayed in the casita and were very pleased with the privacy and yet inclusion in the total group. The kitchen was very well stocked and Gaby and Zuma were absolutely amazing at taking care of the property and us. Any minor issues we experienced were dealt with very quickly and efficiently. The Pool was definitely the highlight of the trip. It was large enough for relaxing in lounges (sun or shade) , playing water games, using multiple floaties, and it was a very welcome relaxing place in the evening. As recommended by the owners, we arranged transportation from Cancun as a group and paid the driver to stop at Walmart in Playa Del Carmen for liquor and groceries. This worked very well. We rented 3 golf carts from Mexi-Art in Akumal and it was the best thing we did. It is a bit of a jaunt to town and it was great to have these to get back and forth. There were several restaurants between the house and town and we tried quite a few of them. We were very pleased with the area for food options, groceries and a short golf cart ride to a great beach for snorkeling and the scuba centre. We NEVER felt unsafe in the house or between the house and the town of Akumal. We are already planning to go back to this house in the future for an adult trip. Thanks for allowing us to enjoy this amazing property!

You must stay here
Such a wonderful property. Expertly maintained by local staff, Gaby and Zulma. They were so welcoming and we had a fantastic time. The house has four bedrooms in the main house and a fifth bedroom in the "casita," a smaller house on the other side of the lap pool. It's a little walk in to town, but we enjoyed the fact that it was farther away from the main tourist strip.You must have Zulma cook for you at least one night. The property manager, Monica, did a great job of meeting us when we arrived and providing recommendations on local activities and restaurants. We've rented many houses over the years and this one was definitely impressive. Excellent experience - highly recommend.

Wonderful Home
We visited with a group of friends and could't have been happier with our choice of Casa Colores. This home has great rooms with views, beautiful decor, and it is so well equipped. They have thought of everything from binoculars and a telescope to watch the wildlife, to pool toys and bug spray and flashlights for being out in the evenings. Gabby and Zulma were great. We also had them make a meal for us one evening and thoroughly enjoyed it. Although the water access in front of the house is rocky and too rough for swimming, Yal Ku lagoon is a short walk away and sandy beach half moon bay is a few minutes the other way. We spent a lot of afternoons reading, dipping in the pool and taking siestas and you couldn't find a better quieter place to do this! I would suggest it's best to have a car (or plan to rent a golf cart) if you are going to stay here as on a warm day it's quite a long walk to Akumal village (about 2 km) and in the evenings the road is very dark to walk on. Make sure you take a flashlight. Overall we had a wonderful stay in this wonderful home.

Casa de Colores was a wonderful place to stay.
Not only were Gaby and Zulma wonderful caretakers but the nicest people you could ever meet. We hired them for a meal one night and it was excellent. How they cooked, set and cleared, and cleaned up for 11 of us is unbelievable. And then, of course, the food was so good. Best to hire them for a special evening early in your stay -- those leftovers are too good to leave behind. There were 12 of us in total. We ranged in age from 2 to 62 -- 10 adults and 2 children -- a mixture of family and friends. We each thought we had the perfect room. There was so much space and so many unique areas that everyone felt very spoiled. I had several in our group compliment me on a "wonderful find". We have stayed in Akumal twice before but this was the largest number of people yet. We could not have found a better place to stay. Everyone enjoyed Akumal Bay, Half Moon Bay, and Ya Kul Lagoon for snorkeling (sea turtles, barracuda, rays, squid, beautiful fish). La Buena Vida become a nightly experience and our Xel-Ha trip was well worth the money. Everyone is talking about a return trip................hopefully soon.

Beautiful vacation at Casa de Colores
First off, the home is superb and wonderfully situated at the north end of Half Moon Bay with sweeping views of the water from nearly every room in the house. Great staff and amenities, this home has everything to make your vacation in akumal special and enjoyable. There are a few dining options are within walking distance and everything the town has to offer is only a short bike ride away, however we also loved staying at home to cook on occasion as you can't beat the view! While you can snorkel outside your door in Half Moon Bay, walk to Yal-Ku lagoon, hang out at the main beach in town or take day trips, I think the beauty of Casa De Colores is that you don't feel like you have to leave. Relaxing on the deck or by the pool with a good book is a great way to spend a day. This home would be good for families.

This was my dream vacation.
The house is lovely inside and out. My favorite get-away spot is in one of the hammocks on the roof. You can see forever and watch the sun rise or set by simply turning your head one way or the other. Not bad for catching a moonrise, either. Casa des Colores offers so much, it's hard to tear oneself away for other adventures, but they are definitely worth it. This trip we went to a secluded "fishing hole" on a canal leading to the ocean where, with the help of a spirited Mayan family, my son managed to snatch a baracuda nearly out of the jaws of a crocodile that was also fishing that day. After a hot and bumpy drive home, we found the pool at Casa des Colores just right for cooling off and rehashing the adventure until it seemed exaggerated enough to qualify as a good story. A family of Baltimore Orioles took up residence in a small bush at the side of the house while we were there, and iguanas ruled the sunny spots. I watched all of this action from pool or oceanside, comfy in my deck chair. Ah...
