Wonderful house for a family vacation!
Villa Arrecife was great. We had a great time with our extended family. Everyone had their own room and bathroom. We enjoyed cooling off in the pool each day. It is located near a wonderful beach wear we watched turtles, went to a nearby lagoon to snorkel (with the equipment from the house - very nice!). It is near Tulum to visit ruins. The staff was helpful and we had everything we needed. Communication with the owner was easy and responses were timely. We will recommend this to anyone interested in traveling to this area.

Nice house better suited for 8. Table for 8 with 8 chairs, we were 11...
Nice pool in a pretty garden with a lot of vegetation and birds. Not enough seatings for 11 persons inside and outside. No dishwasher, not enough plates and cutlery if you have a three courses menu, as we are used to, we had to wash the plates for our dessert and after dinner, wash the dishes for breakfast. There is only one teaspoon for 11 persons.. The pots are in very bad condition, not a single good size pot to cook rice or pasta, no drainer. It seems that the owners do not cook. We had trouble finding the switches to light the garden. We did not find the bicycles. We never saw the manager. We leaved the house at 11am without seeing anybody. Beside the inconvenience, the house is confortable, good beds, except for the pillows that are remittence of the hospital (plastic protectors). The 'casita" is not on par with the main the house. Musty smell. Diana, the housekeeper is charming and very helpful.

Ronald, I am so sorry to hear that you were less than pleased with the villa. I wish you had contacted me via email as I would have told you that if you required further chairs around the table, they are located up in the bedrooms as we only keep 8 around the table and the four stools at the breakfast bar. Please be assured that we have had lots of groups of 14 people stay at the villa and we are mindful of the seating during dinner time. We are in the process of receiving new chairs for the balconies and covered pool deck, so perhaps that is why there were not enough exterior chairs as I instructed Alex to remove any that were unsafe. With the loungers we only have enough pool seating for 12 at the moment, so I do apologize. We do in fact cook and host parties while at the villa and we ensure there are 14 of each dinner plate, side plate and bowl, however you are correct that there are not more. I am sorry that you had to wash your own dishes as Diana does all the housekeeping and washes the dishes while she is there daily. I will speak to her about this matter, as well as the casita. There was a strainer in the kitchen but perhaps it was damaged and I was not alerted to it - again I apologize. I don't personally use one when I cook pasta as I use tongs to remove the pasta and stir into the sauce. I will ask Alex to purchase one right away and have him look at the teaspoon situation. We were there only days prior to your stay but that was not something I thought to check; thank you for letting us know. Alex did come by but I suppose it was when you were not at home. The pillow covers are hypoallergenic cotton covers as my family has allergies and I am always mindful of such things; I am sorry they weren't to your liking. Overall I hope that these small matters did not completely affect your family vacation time in the beautiful Mayan Riviera and that in future you will choose to stay with us again! Please know that we take these reviews very seriously and will correct these issues right away. Warm regards, Tamara

As advertised, nice and clean
We were a family group of 10, with 3 small children. The house is large enough, the rooms are nice, good bathrooms, a good large table for dinner. the pool was very clean. The beach is a 10 to 15 minute walk, great sunrises. The feeling of the area will change over time, at this point only about 1 lot out of every 20 is built up. The good part is that there is (still) very little traffic. The house is not far from the disco, and one light sleeper in the group heard the music on Saturday night, the others didn't. And Diana, the housekeeper, got us a little worried the first day when she didn't show up until noon, but when she was there she was discrete, and the effects of her cleaning were good. Tamara was flexible with checkout, and otherwise very responsive and quick through the email contacts. You can tell she cared about us having a nice stay.

Beautiful place to land
We only stayed 2 nights but would have enjoyed a much longer stay. Enjoyed sunrises and sunsets up on the roof under the palapa. Saw birds and great stars. View of the ocean is limited but it is a 5 min drive to the beach and you have it to yourself. The pool is beautiful. The kitchen is well equipped with all the dishes and appliances that you need. We-fi worked fine.

Clean home in great location
The house is as described and as seen in pictures. My favorite part of the Home are the social areas. The kitchen is accommodated with cookware and some seasonings too. The dining and living areas are perfect for your large group. The TV is small but who really needs to watch TV on vacation. The stereo was old and broken as another reviewer pointed out. Luckily, we had our own. Pool area and roof top terrace were awesome, especially for star gazing. The only discomfort my group and I agreed on were the really stiff beds and old sheets. Most comforters had stains and the sheets felt icky. I have to say, if they upgrade the beds and sheets I’d definitely come back. Resting well and comfortably is really important to me. Also, watch out for the tiny ants. Don’t leave your food out. Tamara was awesome and responded quickly to all my questions. This is a trustworthy Villa. Not once did we feel like we had to be cautious about our personal belongings. Perfectly located between Playa del Carmen and Tulum. Tulum beaches were our favorite. If you’re gonna explore the ruins be sure to pack a swim suit too and head over to Playa paraíso for a relaxing beach day.

Thank you for letting me know about the broken stereo - we checked it and the problem was a CD that was stuck in the slot. It is operational now! The mattresses are hospitality grade with pillow tops - I'm sorry they weren't to your liking. We just purchased new sheets from Costco last year. I'm not sure what icky means, but Diana washes them all on site with laundry detergent and bleach and then dries them in a dryer. We also regularly wash the comforters and hang to dry. I have instructed Diana and Alex to take them to be professionally cleaned. Again, thank you for your feedback - we strive to provide a lovely and clean vacation home for our guests so feedback is appreciated! Warm regards, Tamara

House on the Reef
The Villa Arrecife is a beautiful and amazing house. The pictures are very accurate as well as the description. We rented the home as an additional home for a wedding vow renewal that we had in the area. Our family enjoyed the property and amenities of the area and what the resort had to offer as well. The beach is well within walking distance. The roof top is a nice feature of the property as well. Tamara communicated with us before, during and after. She gave us contact information for and on site host/manager. I will definitely consider staying here again in the near future. Thank You, Greg and Tamara for sharing your home

El lugar súper acogedor y amplio, ideal para pasar unas vacaciones en familia, además de la tranquilidad que teníamos estábamos rodeados de naturaleza e incluso fuimos a un cenote a pocos minutos de ahí (cenote azul) muy recomendado el regula definitivamente esperamos regresar :)

excelente
estuvimos alojados en Villa Arrecife, fuimos 12 personas, la pasamos de maravillas, la casa es muy comoda, encontramos todo lo necesario para pasar unas hermosas vacaciones alli, las habitaciones son grandes, con baño privado y una excelente cama,la limpieza muy buena, Diana tambien se encarga del lavado de ropa si necesitas, La casa esta ubicada en la zona de condominios del Grand sirenis, el lugar es super tranquilo, tiene una gran piscina, una linda galeria donde pasamos la mayor parte del tiempo,es necesario contar con un vehiculo , para realizar compras o hacer excursiones. Recomiendo Villa Arrecife, su dueña, Tamara respondio rapidamente siempre a todas mis inquietudes y fue muy sencillo reservar la propiedad, tambien recibimos sin problemas y en tiempo, el dinero depositado en garantia. Muchas gracias por todo, sin dudas volveremos a alquilar Villa Arrecife !!
