Now with mains water and fibre broadband and Netflix, the Beach House is situated on the Essex Sunshine Coast next to a Nature Reserve right on the bank of a tidal creek with stunning views of the sea in front and the river behind. The huge, usually empty, beach is just over the creek so you can wade over (bring wellies!) at low tide or walk down to the end of Beach Road to the nature reserve and through to the beach. Or you can stroll through the reserve, along the beach and back along the sea wall or stop and bird-watch from the hides or the sun deck. A booklet is in the house along with binoculars and bird books if you don't know a plover from a pigeon. We have a list of birds spotted (34 in one weekend including Marsh harrier, linnets, Reed buntings, oystercatchers and kestrel) and ...

AMAZING
WOW what can i say PERFECT if you want a quite holiday then you wont get better. arrived thursday packed every thing you can think of tea towels bin bags ect to fin that everything you need is there . the views where amazing .The bed was comtable place was clean didnt want to go anywhere but poped out spent most off hte time on top decking what aview .the bridge to the nature reserve is not far and its locked so no one can bother you we harldey saw any one.will recomended it if you just want to get away from the daily grind our son said it could be in scotland AMAZING def book again host was great information really helpfull ONLY BAD THING IS WE HAD TO COME HOME thanx again

Wonderful for bird watching
A great place to stay. Sitting on the terrace with skylarks serenading us from high in the sky, watching oystercatchers chatting together by the creek, and a little egret fishing for its lunch - what more could we want? Going for a stroll we encountered swallows and starlings nesting in a nearby property, a kestrel catching her meal, and a beach full of ringed plovers and terns. The house was cosy and had everything we needed. We will definitely return!

Incredible autumn stay!
We had such a great time at the Beach House last week - the weather was beatiful and the house was cosy, warm and with the best views - especially as the tide comes in. Would love to stay again soon!

So very very peaceful,
Never experienced such silence in the UK, really is a wonderful place to recharge the batteries. The top floor with a full moon and the tide in - really beautiful. If there had been a hammock I think I could have slept for a month.

Excellent little wildlife haven to just totally relax
This place is a little gem, lots of wildlife and a practically private beach on your doorstep. Owner was so helpful and couldn't do enough. Great place to relax and unwind in peace and quiet. My daughter loved catching crabs just outside our door and was out there several times a day just wading in the creek looking for crabs and shrimps. Excellent place and will be booking again.

A unique special place.
I booked the beach house on my husband’s criteria- “quirky and remote “- it certainly was both! I was expecting
it to be special by the photographs and reviews, but nothing could have prepared me for just how special it was. The photographs do not do it justice.
The owner was lovely throughout all our correspondence and more than happy to accommodate our needs.
I did not want to go home! We will definitely be returning, if only to see if our wellies are still submerged in the mud!

Truly magical get away from it all....
What an amazing place to stay, so quirky as close to being on a house boat as it’s possible without floating!
The directions from Elizabeth were perfect and the beautiful beach views from every window made it very special.
The silence at night was magical almost impossible to find in England but only the sound of a curlew to hear.
Will definitely book again and again and again.....

Quirky house in amazing location with incredible views and lovely manager.
We stayed here for a last-minute weekend on a whim because of the excellent reviews and the intriguing position over the sea wall but we weren’t really expecting that much, to be honest. The house is in the middle of nowhere and is a 10 minute drive across farmland and marshland. We saw partridges and pheasants on the drive down and lots of birdlife. We aren’t twitchers at all but it was wonderful to see so many different birds. We arrived quite late on Friday but the directions are very precise so we had no problem getting in and the house was very cosy and spotlessly clean. There was a welcome tray with biscuits and we settled in for a game of cards and an early night in absolute silence. After London it is incredible how quiet it was. Next morning I woke early and made a coffee and went to the sun room to drink it and was blown away by the view of the creek with the wading birds and then the sea going on for ever. Astounding to be so close to the sea and it got even closer. Elizabeth had warned us that the tides were high that weekend but we did not really expect to be cut-off although she had said we most likely would be. The water came up the slipway and around the house. It was like being on a boat! When the tide receded we went over to the beach and walked a long way collecting shells and seal-spotting. We had planned to go to Frinton and see some architecture on Sunday but loved being in the house so much we arranged to stay late instead. It was a wrench to go back to London and we are already planning a return trip. The house is very well-equipped and comfortable and cosy in a unique location. No wonder it has been used for film and TV locations. Thank you to Elizabeth who was attentive without being intrusive. Highly recommended.

Perfect place to unwind and be in nature
The Beach House gave us the chance to enjoy nature and stillness from a fully equipped, warm and cozy retreat. I spent my time just watching the weather, the birds and the tides from the windows and was endlessly fascinated by the play of light in the sky.
Cannot recommend highly enough..relative isolation without having to travel to the ends of the earth!

Lovely isolated location
In the middle of almost nowhere, with only one neighbouring property, The Beach House is a wonderful getaway. It is in an Essex Wildlife Trust nature reserve, where the surrounding salt marshes flood at the highest tides every month. We saw 27 bird species around the house and the reserve! For a few hours around low tide (twice a day) the quiet beach is couple of minutes walk through a creek and across a dune.
This is also the most well-appointed and comfortable holiday house we have stayed in.
