When we saw this online it looked amazing and a perfect little location for our children and only round the corner from Alton towers. It is a lovely location, barn looks great from the outside and the views are amazing.
Unfortunately there was No hot water and with two young children I would say that this is unacceptable. There was a very damp smell in the property which played havoc on my wife’s asthma. Floors were dirty especially the bathroom. I understand that this is a very old building but that does not mean it cannot be kept clean.
We did contact the owner about the hot water issue on day 1 of our stay, it worked a little when I was advised by the owner to reset the boiler, but then this issue persisted soon after. An engineer would be sent after our stay ended.
We aired these issues with the owner and was offered a partial refund to which we accepted, he asked for my bank details which I sent over to him, we are days later and now he is refusing to send any refund.
Overall Disappointed.
Luckily we only used this as a base for our Alton Towers visit for the Children.

Characterful remote cottage
Beautiful characterful stone cottage with stunning views. Jay was a very accommodating host with swift responses. A perfect weekend escape.

Nice cottage
The cottage was nice but smelled damp. The kitchen could do with updates and bath taps dripping. We stayed for a week and enjoyed Alton and the surrounding areas. We were eating out so didn’t use the oven as needed cleaning. I would say the property needs attention then it possibly would be a great place to stay.

Perfect for Relaxing in peace
Lovely cottage in a nice secluded location yes easily within a couple of miles of a cheadle where there was supermarkets, really liked the old styling of the cottage especially the doors and the kitchen. Would definitely recommend this if you're looking for somewhere quiet to relax.

Nice little cottage needs a little more attention.
Nice little cottage in a typical very English countryside with the smell of the near by farm. Needs a little nore attention so by a perfect spot for a short break.

Everything we hoped for - much nicer than drab photo!
Very attractively laid out with a large kitchen and comfortable rooms. Wide hallway with broad stairway up to the landing. Spacious. Full of oak cupboards and idyllically quiet. Perfect if you're happy being a 4 min drive from Alton - not possible to walk in without dying. The bathroom looks the part & although a stand up shower is messy that wasn't an issue. Very warm - eventually found a slide out control panel in the top of boiler. Low ceilings upstairs might not suit giants. Plenty of parking. Helpful owner who responded quickly to minor queries. We'll definitely stay again when visiting the area.

Well recommend
Beautiful and peaceful place to stay, very convenient for a lot of local attractions. The cottage is lovely and I couldn't wish for a nicer place to stay, my wife and 2 year old enjoyed it as much as I did.

A peaceful home-from-home just minutes from Alton Towers.
We were so pleased with this fantastic cottage. It's cosy & comfortable, really well equipped & is surrounded by peaceful countryside. It's a perfect base from which to explore Alton Towers (around 10 minutes away) & the surrounding towns & villages. While in the area we'd recommend a trip to the Trentham Estate - a great day out.

Cosy, comfy, perfect
So delighted to have found Springfield Barn. Immaculate, cosy and homely retreat. So much bigger than expected and excellent value for money.
Stayed here when visiting Alton Towers with our children. Only a few minutes drive away and lots of lovely restaurants nearby too.
Well equipped kitchen, comfy beds, fabulous roll top bath. A travel
Cot and high chair would have been handy to save us having to bring our own.
Would most definitely recommend and will certainly be back. Thank you
