From the moment we arrived at the Sea House we were definitely on vacation. Marina and Eddie (resident staff) met our vehicle and almost like magic our bags were in our rooms and homemade dinner was on the table. We were dining by the faint light of fading sunset.
The Sea House receives an A+ for all the requirements you’d expect from a high quality vacation home: complete cleanliness, comfortable beds and furniture, good linens and towels, enough comfortable seating/lounging for all both inside and out, shady and sunny, beautiful trees and flowers, large dining tables that seat all both inside and out, convenient bathrooms, social and quiet rest areas, fully stocked kitchen, Wi-Fi, TV, full house speaker system, delightful pool with easy entry, outside showers, and lighting for both mood and safe movement.
So what moves the Sea House to a higher level than most? In a few words “attention to detail.” The house felt so comfortable because so many small details were well thought out. And the charming sea horse theme was a bonus.
A lot of the credit to detail is credited to Eddie and Marina who live in separate service quarters that insures privacy for guests but also provided enough contact so our needs were always met. Marina is learning to speak English and enjoyed helping me learn Spanish. She cooked amazing meals for us and kept the house spotless. Drivers, Richard and Edgar, are associated with the Sea House, speak English and are very safe and courteous. If you want a rental vehicle, Eddie will take you to see Ellie at Dollar Rental in San Juan del Sur. He also can take credit for the green thumb, as the gardens are incredibly pretty.
The Sea House is especially great for two families, as it has two master bedrooms and a bunkroom for the kids/young adults and an abundance of private areas. We especially enjoyed relaxing around the pool, watching the sunset and the stars come out.
At the Sea House you will feel like you are on top of the world. The view, the landscaping, and the attention to details are truly special. Everything that Rose said in the listing description was true. The grills, the outdoor shower, the equipment, the upkeep of the grounds and pool (thanks Eddie), the bottled water, the attention to your needs such as pool /beach towels daily and drinks (thanks Marina) was there for your pleasure in a quiet unassuming manner.
The bedrooms have these terrific air conditioning units, but we were so comfortable with the fans and the local breeze that we were not inclined to use them. We wanted to enjoy hearing the birds and the monkeys in the morning and the sounds of the night. Daytime weather was sunny and breezy and the beaches we went to had shade from trees and rancho huts. Playa Hermosa has many more creature comforts than our beaches in New Jersey and provided a perfect relaxing spot to watch the sunset.
Yet another benefit of the Sea House is that they have a small group price. There were only 4 of us and we did not have to pay as if there were 10 of us like we had to in Puerto Rico last January.
Finally have to mention that a few years ago, when we first heard of Nicaragua as a vacation destination, we thought about war, danger and choose Costa Rica instead. What a mistake. We always felt secure and comfortable in Nicaragua. Yes, there is a security gate at the entrance to the Paradise Bay section of SJDS and there is a secure gate at the Sea House and there is Jack, a sweet black and white dog that we fell in love with and wanted to bring home with us. This dog is Mr. Manners, but still looks after the property. Well it turns out that Nicaragua is more gentile than Costa Rica. You will notice this coming through customs and in everything else you do. Locals are so warm and friendly and are so happy to share their misunderstood country.
No negatives on this rental except that we should have stayed more than a week! We would highly recommend this house and look forward to our next visit.
