We booked the riverside cabin for two nights. A Friday and Saturday night. When we arrived we were informed they double booked our cabin and that instead had a yurt for us to stay in but only one night availability. The man who checked me in apologized often and seemed like he felt bad. It would of been nice to get some more notice though. I’m not sure when they realized the room was double booked but with more notice I could of worked something out elsewhere instead of being stuck for one night in WV with no cellphone service. Especially since I was traveling with my dog. I was told there are services that allow you to book instantly and that is how to room was double booked. The person who checked me in said he’d call around to find availability at cabins nearby, but I wasn’t hopeful for last minute availability anywhere on a Saturday. He offered to call cabins in Ohio Hocking Hills Area which I honestly found offensive. I am from Cleveland Ohio and if I wanted to stay in Hocking Hills I would of Sri e there instead of a few hours out of my way to check out this facility. We drove to a nearby gas station and when we came back had a note on our yurt that they had good news. They had availability Saturday in their lodge. It wasn’t on the property but only about a 3-5 minute drive down the windy road. It was a beautiful lodge in beautiful land. Very spacious and perfect for a big family. It was definitely too large for my partner, dog, and I but we did have fun in the house. It had a game room. They had a change machine because all the games cost money. The room itself is around $550 a night. We did not get an upcharge which I greatly appreciated. If I had been paying for the room I would of been very disappointed that the games cost so much money. The air hockey table was missing the puck so after putting our money in we realized we couldn’t play it which was disappointing. The touch tunes machines remote was also missing so we couldn’t okay with that either. We enjoyed the pool table and buck hunter game a lot though! We spent about 30$ in the buck hunter game and I do not regret it. I found it very fun. There was also a mouse in the house but I being a rustic location it’s understandable to have any rodents or bugs around. The nearby horse was lovely and it was peaceful to eat our meals while watching it roam. We were also offered to take out one of the ATVs for a few hours to explore for no charge because of the trouble. We did not end up using it but we appreciated the offer. Overall it was a nice location and the rooms were cool and different but I am unhappy with the experience and I don’t know that I’d recommend.

Hey there, I am sorry to hear that you had a less than perfect time. I am glad that you liked the Lodge. It is rare that we have these kinds of issues with scheduling, but when they do happen, we like to make things right any way we can. The instant booking feature that some online platforms make mandatory are the reason that there was not much notice given before you arrived. That is why you were given the Lodge, even though it was just you , your partner and your dog for no extra charge. We did offer you a full refund, but you decided that you would rather stay even with the situation as it was. The games do require quarters. The mice do happen occasionally, but we have an exterminator that comes to do regular upkeep and maintenance. I am glad that you did find the Lodge to be beautiful and relaxing for you guys, once you were in there.
