Wonderful Property and Host
This property is only 7 minutes from the airport. It sits in a quiet neighborhood and is the ground floor apartment of a very large house. It is spacious and clean, and Caryl does a wonderful job providing whatever you need. She greeted us and gave us a great tour. She also checked in with us daily to see if we needed anything, but other than that we didn’t see her. She lives upstairs, but you wouldn’t know it.
Caryl provides very detailed emails on things to do on the island. Read them, because they are great. She put a ton of time in on these emails, and we referred to them many times.
She also has a lot of extras you don’t typically find, like beach chairs, umbrellas, coolers, Etc. Her attention to detail is impressive, and she is extremely nice. We will be back next time we visit the island.

Inviting, Comfortable, with everything you need
The accommodations were GREAT! Clean, comfortable, with all the amenities you’ll need. Everything from coffee, granola, spices for cooking, beach chairs and umbrellas, coolers and boogie boards. Kitchen is well stocked with cooking appliances, (including popcorn maker), and utensils. Gas grill next to lanai. The bed and pillows were super comfortable. The lanai is large with comfortable furniture, and a large well tended property. We loved the privacy afforded by the bamboo growing along the lanai. Caryl and John are very welcoming and helpful with suggestions, directions and anything you may need for your stay. We highly recommend staying with them and we will again if we return to the Kona area. Mahalo Caryl and John.

Lovely and perfectly equipped apartment in a peaceful neighborhood
The gracious and helpful hosts have included all amenities necessary for a tropical stay. We especially appreciated the beach equipment, and the wide selection of guide books that covered the island from many perspectives. The location is quite convenient to drive to but removed from any highway bustle. We were pleased with everything about our stay!

Comfort and Convenience for a Great Stay in Kona
I initially found Caryl's spacious retreat on TripAdvisor from all the great reviews. I was also impressed with how well she communicated with renters. We expected an outstanding experience and were not disappointed. Our goal is to find a place to use as a home base to tour the Big Island. This location is up the hill (where it is substantially cooler) and convenient to main roads. If you are looking for a place near town or the ocean, this is not it but the location was ideal for us and with a car you can get to most anything fairly quickly. Caryl provides a lot of thoughtful features in her retreat to make it a comfortable stay. Highly recommended.

Paradise
Our stay at Caryl and John’s Spacious retreat was wonderful. We loved the location where it was cool enough for wonderful sleeping. We were close to everything yet away from the crowds. Caryl and John couldn’t have been more helpful or accommodating! We really appreciated the beach gear! Loved the outdoor patio to eat on or just sit and relax. The surrounding were lush and private. Perfect for 2 people.

Truly a Spacious Retreat
This really is a spacious accommodation on the warm west side of Hawaii Island. The rooms are bright and airy with a large lanai for dining or relaxing. It is well equipped for as much or as little food preparation as you like. The location is great for exploring the island or spending time at the many beaches along the coast north of Kailua. Caryl and John are friendly helpful hosts who provide a well organized, comfortable base for a visit to Hawaii Island. We look forward to making a return visit.
