This is a great, ground floor apartment, in a lovely, secure complex in Playa Granada - on the Costa Tropical between the village of Salobrena and the town of Motril. The gardens in the complex are beautiful and there is a super swimming pool, though its only open between mid-June and mid-September, which is a pity. However, there are plenty of beaches nearby.
There are lots of good shops and restaurants in the area, a short walk or drive away. A hire car is an essential - and the apartment comes with a parking space in the underground garage. We don’t play golf, but if you do then there is a golf course right across the road from the complex.
By the way, beware of the ‘zona azul’ areas in Salobrena and Motril, where you must pay at a difficult-to-spot meter (on on an app) before you park. If, like us, you park unwittingly in one of these metered parking areas, and don’t spot the tiny parking ticket under your windscreen wiper in time to pay a small fine at the meter, then you face a fine of €30 that is very complicated to pay. You have been warned!
The apartment has air conditioning and good wifi, is really well furnished, with very comfortable beds (hugely important!), and an excellent kitchen, with all modern appliances and a good supply of cutlery, crockery and cooking utensils (even sharp knives). There is a modern flat-screen tv (local channels only) and a dvd player.
There is a very large and well furnished terrace, that gets the sun until mid afternoon, but always has shaded areas too. Even if it rains, part of the terrace has been glazed and provides a comfortable, dry area to sit. The terrace has direct access to the gardens.
The owner is fluent in English and was very easy to contact, via Whatsapp; very welcoming, and made every attempt to be helpful when we had a problem (noises from the air conditioning unit in one of the bedrooms, a parking fine, nothing else!). The process for checking in and out was made very easy, and there was a lovely cleaner (Belen) who met us on arrival to show us round and give us the keys, and who then came in after our first week to clean and to change the towels and bedlinen.
We had a lovely holiday, comfortable and relaxed, with everything that we needed and more. I would not hesitate to recommend this apartment to anyone wanting to visit this area of Spain, which is still very Spanish and not crowded with tourists. You do need to be able to speak at least some Spanish to cope, in most places.
