Stay here for the colored it is amazing! Great host who had cold water and food in fridge for us. It has a queen bed and three twin beds. it is at the top of a steep hill and has fantastic panoramic views. You will need to rent a car, it is too steep to walk up with luggage. Our rental car barely made it up when it was loaded up with our luggage. It has a safe, pool, washing machine, 2 ceiling fans, two air conditioning units (in 2 rooms), and beautifully landscaped. The a/c units cool the whole house if you leave the bedroom doors open. The beds were comfortable and it was clean. There is parking on site with a security gate. Fairyland beach is closest and we loved snorkeling out to the island. There was sand on the right and boulders on the left of the beach. It’s gorgeous! Anse Royale is another nearby beach located close to shops and restaurants. At night we could hear the music from the beach or local restaurant, so there is entertainment in the city. We had problems with the WiFi. It didn’t work the first day. The owner tried to get it fixed but it wasn’t until we located and reset three separate WiFi points that we got it to work and then it was slow. The points are in the villa by the tv, in the stairwell high on the wall and downstairs by the front door. (In case you need to reset it). There are some dogs nearby and when they all barked simultaneously it woke us up. The A/C muffles some of it but not all. There are two upstairs Villas for rent here and the downstairs residents rent longer term- they were friendly and helpful.

An extended family with 2 children, we stayed at Villa Bel Age for 6 days in December 2016. The villa houses 2 self-catering apartments on the top floor, and the caretaker (Oliver) lives in the apartment on the ground floor. the apartment we stayed in had 2 bedrooms, both ensuite, and an extra bed in the dining room/common area for extra persons. We found the apartment very comfortable. The host (Nicholas) was very gracious while making the booking and answered all our questions promptly. Oliver was very helpful once we got there. A cleaning lady came once during our stay and cleaned the whole place. Some points of caution however in general about Mahe: 1) The airport taxis charge A LOT for this short ride from the airport to the villa. We got charged $60. 2) Villa bel age is literally at the top of the mountain. the inclination on the mountain is very steep. so even though they say it's only 400 meters to the beach at the bottom, the descend and ascend are impossible to do on foot, let alone several times a day, or if you have children. 3) at the bottom of the mountain, there are taxis for hire. these taxis are regular people who are trying to make some money on the side by using their personal cars as taxis. they call them pirate taxis. they are not reliable however, and charges are very arbitrary. you'd have to really know the local custom to navigate pirate taxis successfully. the first day and morning of the 2nd day, we spent lots of time calling pirate taxis, they say they are coming, but can take anywhere from 1-2 hours to show up. numbers for some pirate taxis were provided by Oliver, who was really trying to be helpful. we were very lucky that we managed to get the local contact of an old family friend who lives in Mahe and has his own taxi and he took us around for the remainder of the trip. otherwise we literally would have been very stuck at the top of the mountain in villa bel age for the majority of our trip. 4) it is recommended in guide books to hire your own car. i would also recommend this after our experience. i just wasn't sure about navigating the very steep and winding roads throughout the mountain with our large group, and hence my personal reluctance to hire a car. but in hindsight, this would have been the best thing, right after our arrival at the airport. 5) Guide books will also tell you that food and general commodities are very expensive in Seychelles since they import almost everything. it is no joke. everything is really very expensive. we carried some dried foods and canned vegetables, and our own powdered milk, tea and coffee, which came in handy since we were staying in a self catering place. Overall, the beaches and natural environment on the island are just so peaceful and relaxing, it's worth the trip. If you're looking for plenty of activity with an adrenaline rush, this might not be the place for you. But if you really want somewhere to just get away from it all, and re-center yourself, then Seychelles is the place.
