Terrible Host Horrible Attitude
I have been a loyal guest of Villa Iris for over three years, renting the property multiple times, but I can now confidently say I will never return. After this last experience, I am deeply disappointed, not only with the state of the villa but also with the host, Rita, who has proven to be incredibly rude, disrespectful, and incapable of handling any form of feedback or criticism.
Every time something goes wrong, she refuses to take responsibility and blames the guests. During this recent stay, the dishwasher didn’t work—and despite 16 guests and a chef trying to figure it out, it was completely unusable. We had to hand wash everything throughout the stay. When we raised this with her, she, as usual, claimed it was our fault.
The villa itself is run down, tired, and completely unequipped for a large group. The kitchen amenities are cheap, constantly breaking, and unbelievably, there wasn't even a kettle! We had to borrow the kettle from the sauna just to make tea. For a villa that supposedly accommodates large groups, this is unacceptable.
Rita’s attitude this time around was the worst it’s ever been. She was on holiday herself and clearly annoyed that we contacted her at all during our stay. Rather than assisting, she told me not to rent the villa again and said she "just wanted peace." This is hardly the attitude of someone who values returning customers.
She also has a habit of blaming guests for breaking things that were already broken or faulty. There's no proper inventory of the property, so she shifts the blame to guests without proof, which is beyond frustrating. I run a business in the UK and had rented this villa for my clients, some of whom own Airbnbs themselves, and they were shocked at the way we were treated. Rita’s attitude toward repeat business is disgraceful.
Overall, the villa itself needs a lot of work—it is not maintained to a high standard, and Rita, unfortunately, fails to meet even the basic standards of a competent host. If you’re looking for a professionally run property with a kind and welcoming host, I strongly advise against booking Villa Iris.
Save yourself the hassle and disappointment and find a property where the host values their guests and takes responsibility for their own shortcomings.

Irrespetuoso
El lucro por parte de uno a costa del descanso de sus vecinos es egoista, para poder disfrutar un grupo no debemos pagar el resro de vecinos. Las normas de convivencia son inexistentes, y por parte de la comunidad de vecinos estamos muy en desacuerdo con el uso que dan los inquilinos a la villa. Si tanto lujo se ofrece, ofrezca usted un salon insonorizado donde los energumenos que de vez en cuando visitan la casa, pueddan gritar, cantar y campar a sus anchas hasfa la hora que les plazca, sin necesidad de molestar a nadie.

Great house, brilliant pool & tennis court
We really enjoyed our stay. Beds were comfortable. House was very clean. Swimming pool perfect. Great location for our requirements. The sauna was a welcome treat too. Enjoyed having the BBQ area with the family. Rita met us on our arrival, and made us feel very welcome. We appreciated the large areas to relax together inside the house, as well as smaller areas to disappear into for quiet reading. We look forward to returning in the summer. Thank you !

Very disappointing
We spent over 10000 euros on what we thought would be a luxury two week holiday for our family (8 adults and 6 children).
I was a little nervy before we set off. Although the website says towels are included, this apparently does not run to pool towels (too expensive to wash, we were told). "You will have to bring your own"
Having been told that check in was from 5pm onwards(although you can wait in the garden if you arrive early) my son and daughter in law, who arrived at 5:15 (having stopped off locally to feed their children) , were met with a stiff lecture from Rita, the owner, ticking them off for being late, pointing out that she had been waiting two hours for them.
The furnishings, such as they are, were of poor quality. The seating units in the lounge were stained, worn and flimsy. There were no "nice touches" by way of occasional furniture, no pictures apart from some "iris" shots. The kitchen could seat max 10 people on two benches. The level of kitchen equipment was poor.
Outside the tables were rickety and needed urgently replacing. The parasols (4 only) were torn, the fixings were bent such that they needed replacing ("it's the guests, they do not look after things")
OK we knew there was no aircon, but the house was stiflingly hot. The temperature inside never dropped below 27 degrees. And not even a fan in the kitchen.
There was no information pack provided and therefore no way of finding out about local shops, restaurants or attractions. What we did get (and were required to sign) was a fearsome set of instructions with penalties for non observance.
The villa is set in a semi urban position. Admittedly one is not conscious of neighbours. The local village, Cubelles, has little going for it apart from its proximity to a nice beach.
Road and rail connections are good for an outing to Barcelona.
Other positives are the pool, good size and well maintained and the tennis court.
Our overall impression is that the villa is geared up for stag or hen parties. The owner resents any expenditure on the furnishings, equipment or on the property which looks as if it was built in the 60s or 70s and shows its age.
As I said at the outset, we thought that a payment of 5250 euros a week pretty well guaranteed a high quality experience. How wrong could we be.
I appreciate that this review is at odds with others, but the other adult members of our group agree with me (and they weren't the ones paying!!)
Perhaps I should add that my wife and I own two holiday properties in the UK. We had hoped that Rita's property would have been shown off to the same sort of standard that we require. Sadly it wasn't.

Dear Andrew, first of all, all people can see here, that we have from 7 comments before yours, 6 valorations of 5 bubbles and one valoration of 4 bubbles. On airbnb I am superhost and I have from 57 valorations the maximum of ratings of 5 stars as total result. So, it is clear, that you are the only client from 64 who made one valoration, who gave only two bubbles and is disapointed about your stay. I think, this result is enough representative to show, that you are a very special and complicated client. As well it shows the length of your text. Nobody writes so long valorations, but I will answer you as well with one long text.
You broke two electric kettles and one table. All the plastic decoration around the glass was completly cutted with scissors or with one knife. I didn’t let you pay anything for it. I think it were the children of your group. When you broke the first electric kettle, I said to you, that we have one other one for the hob. You let me come 30 minutes from far away only to bring you one electrical kettle, what I did. I also brought you one other fan for the kitchen. When you broke the second kettle (I am nearly shore, that you put the baby bottles there to heat), you said that the plug doesn’t work correctly. It had to come the electrician only for this and after checking the plug, he said, that the plug is totally o.k.
The decoration of the house is vintage style. It is one question of class and age to understand this. Vintage style is old by conscience. It is made old and it is very expensive. This is the case, expecially in the kitchen and the painting of the kitchen furniture. The furniture is only 3 years old. I have outstanding postive ratings for decoration and furniture on airbnb.
The comunication with you never worked. Not with the arrival time and not with the excursions and activities. I send you one very large text with all instructions. There is one point which sais : Activities, Excursions and restaurants. It is not my fault, if you don’t read it. You had the same problem with tripadvisor who wanted to cancel your reservation, because you had not made the second payment on time, even they send to you a lot of e-mails about it.
Also the first guests have not been informed, that they have to pay 300 euros of deposit for the bodega and 70 euros as deposit for the tenis raquet. All this information was on the instructions I send to you.
We have big fans on the ceiling of each room, which work excellent. I have the same in my house. But you had problems to switch them on, even I explained to the first guests how does it work. The comunication definitly didn’t work. In the kitchen and in the bath room are never any fans or air conditioning. I never saw it in any place and in no hotel. But I even brought you one other fan.
I am happy, that you rent two properties, but it is not the same, if you rent something privatly or if you are one profesional. I work like one agency and I rent houses of other persons as well. I don’t know anybody, who offer pool towels in one big house with one capacity of 20 persons. There are home owners who even don’t offer any towels or you have to pay for them.
At the point of the parasol you are right. Some were broken, but all of them could be used. I came as well to arrange some during your stay. It is quite normal that we could not change them all in one day, because we had the same day of your arrival check in and check out. We already have changed all of them.
I would kindly ask you, to not reserve any more my house, because you are very unfriendly and conflictive clients.

Amazing Villa - Perfect for big groups!
Villa Iris was the perfect villa to accommodate a group of 20 of us. The house is spacious, the pool and garden are nice and big and the entertainment area reay adds to the villa.
The owner, Rita, was always on hand to answer any questions and even booked taxis for us to the local town.
A really great thing was the local chef, Marcarena, cooking us an amazing paella and serving us local Spanish foods.
I would definitely recommend Villa Iris and would not hesitate in returning.

Amazing Villa
20 friends stayed at the villa and it exceeded expectations. Amazing views, great garden/pool, spacious modern house. Plus the host was very helpful too.

Lovely Villa
The villa was incredible with everything you would need for a family holiday. The amenities - pool, table tennis and pool table - offer lots to do and the surrounding towns offer great options for eating out.

Group of friends holiday
A group of me and my friends have just stayed at Villa Iris for 5 nights and we had the best time! Rita, the owner, is so helpful and a great host. The house is amazing - pictures don't do it justice!! Lovely and modern, nice sized pool, plenty of outside space with lovely hilly views. Half hour drive from Barcelona too and close by to great beaches and a town. Would 100% stay here again! Thanks Rita :)

Buena experiencia
Estuvimos alojados durante tres días para celebrar Fin de año y la verdad es que estuvimos genial, éramos 5 parejas con hijos y no nos faltó de nada. Cuando llegamos la chimenea del comedor estaba encendida y teníamos aperitivos preparados que fue todo un detalle. La casa está muy bien y ahora nos falta repetir en verano para poder disfrutar de la bonita piscina y jardín que tiene.
